Carriage Bolts
Carriage bolts are available in stainless steel, zinc, and hot-dipped galvanized (HDG) and have a smooth mushroom head, a square section immediately below, and a circular, partially-threaded shank.
Other names for Carriage Bolts include “plow bolts” and “coach bolts,” as these fasteners were popularized by the construction of carriages and carriage wheels. Today, the most common uses are in carpentry and wood construction, though the versatile design available in Stainless Steel, Hot Dipped Galvanized, or Zinc allows their use in marine, railroad, and other industries.
